Raesibe started with the commission in the Fall of 2024. She will be assisting with lab and field activities; harvest, bloom counts, fruit monitoring, lab tests, internal disorders and more.
Raesibe grew up in Lebowakgomo, Limpopo Province, South Africa. She received her Bachelor of Sciences degree in Agriculture, majoring in Agrometeorology (Additional major: Soil Sciences, 2021), currently completing a Master of Science in Agriculture, majoring in Agrometeorology.
Raesibe started as a vacation intern at Golder Associates Africa, assisting researchers and consultants in field visits to collect soil samples and analyzed lab-reported data for their reports. She worked as a student assistant for Climate Science modules at the University of the Free State for two years, assisting students in practical and lab work and data collection for their graded report writing. In 2022, Raesibe moved to the Agricultural Research Council-Infruitec: Nietvoorbijl as a master’s student on a water use project focusing on tree and fruit growth, quality of fruit at harvest, and the use of micrometeorological instruments such as Eddy Covariance, Automated Weather Station, Surface Renewal, Sap Flow Sensors etc., to determine the amount of water used and required (evaporation+ transpiration) in orchards for optimum productivity and yield in pomegranate orchards. In early 2024, Raesibe was a Biodata intern at the University of Oslo, developing skills in the biodiversity data of crop wild relatives project, learning more about large data use and coding to gather data for generating a Digital twin.
Raesibe is the first of three children, followed by her little brother (24), who is studying for a National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and her little sister studying a Bachelor of Sciences majoring in biological sciences (21). Raesibe’s Mother is a primary school educator and principal and her Father is a Warren Officer in the police band department.
