Advisory committees are comprised of dedicated volunteers representing various aspects of the production, packing, and storage of WA tree fruits, including allied industries which support our industry.  To ensure that industry concerns are addressed in the most comprehensive manner possible, we build committee memberships with representation from diverse geographical regions, operation sizes, conventional and organic production, areas of expertise, cultural backgrounds, genders, ages, etc.

In the dropdown menus below, you will find corresponding details and application forms.

WTFRC Advisory Committees

We seek to continually add new committee members to replace retiring members and to keep each group’s perspective fresh. The typical time commitment for members varies slightly by committee, but generally follow a common pattern:

Time Commitment
Priority Session  90 min session
Preproposal Review & Voting 90 min session
Review Full Proposals 120 min session
Research Review 3 – 7 hours
Committee Meeting 2 – 4 hours
Total Time Commitment 10-16 hours/year

If you are interested in becoming a committee member, please take a moment and fill out the application below. All inquiries are reviewed by the Executive Director and Committee Chairs. All applications can be submitted to submit@treefruitresearch.com

Pear Research Sub Committee

The time commitments for members of the Pear Research Subcommittee (PRSC) are similar to WTFRC advisory committee members but may also include 1-2 additional meetings per year and an expectation to periodically interact with individual scientists to monitor and help guide specific research projects.  Because the PRSC is a subcommittee of the Fresh and Processed Pear Committees, it operates under the rules for Federal Marketing Order #927 (WA and OR pears) and has specific guidelines for its membership.  Nonetheless, anyone interested in applying for a position on the PRSC is encouraged to apply by completing the following form and submitting it via email to submit@treefruitresearch.com.
