Harold Schell was appointed to position number 4 by the Washington Apple Commission and began his term July 1, 2009. He serves as co-chair of the apple horticulture and postharvest committee. Harold grew up in Cashmere, WA, where he graduated from high school in 1972. He attended Highline Community College for two years and then transferred to WSU where he graduated in 1977 with a B.S. in Horticulture.
Harold was an apple grower from 1979-2004 and worked as a horticulturist in the Chelan Valley. He is currently Variety Research Development Manager for Chelan Fruit. Mr. Schell is married to Kara and has two children, Resa and Calin, and six grandchildren. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, antique motorcycles and cars,, and playing with his grandchildren.
