Ozone in apple storage: microbial safety and decay management

Summary: The objectives of this project were: 1) Examine fate of Listeria and natural microorganisms of apple fruit surfaces when stored in refrigerated air, controlled atmosphere in the presence or absence of continuous low doses of ozone. 2) Examine the effect of ozone in the storage environment on final fruit quality. 3) Evaluate the efficacy of continuous low doses of ozone on postharvest pathogens.
