David started with the commission in Fall 2023 and will be interning for a year. He will be assisting with lab and field activities; harvest, bloom counts, fruit monitoring, lab tests, internal disorders and more.
David grew up in the city of Danli, Department of El Paraiso, Honduras. He finished his bachelor’s degree in food technology in 2014 at the Universidad Nacional de Agricultura, Honduras and a master’s degree in Agricultural Sciences in 2019 at the Universidad de la República, Uruguay. During his studies, he was trained in the Fruit and Vegetables Postharvest Area.
The last 5 years David worked as a Special Accounts Manager in the Commercial Management Area of the Unidad Agroalimentaria Metropolitana (UAM), Uruguay. The Unidad Agroalimentaria Metropilitana is the largest logistics and wholesale food marketing center in Uruguay and one of the most modern in the region. One of his responsibilities was to provide technical advice to different producers and companies in the use of post-harvest tools for the conservation of fruits and vegetables and thus maintain the quality of the products during their commercialization.
David has a sister, currently she is studying a degree in Human Nutrition. She lives in Honduras. David’s mother is an elementary school mathematics and information technology teacher. David enjoys playing sports, specifically soccer, basketball, running and going to the gym.
